Lt. Col. (Ret.) Al Warburton died peacefully at his home in Arlington, Va., on October 1. Lt. Col. Warburton, 69, served for 25 years in the US Army, retiring in 1992. While in the Army, he was assigned to the military intelligence branch. He served two tours in Vietnam and two more tours in Germany in addition to other assignments. Beginning in 1992, Lt. Col. Warburton served for more than 15 years in AWWA's Washington, D.C., office as legislative director. In that capacity, Lt. Col. Warburton represented AWWA in Congressional deliberations over federal legislation of importance to the water community. He spent countless hours on Capitol Hill, meeting with members of Congress and their aides to carry AWWA's legislative message.
