New Hires at SFPUC Receive GIS Introduction

As part of the mandatory training, new employees are provided with an overview of the utility's enterprise GIS program with an introduction to the web-based GIS Basemap Viewer application (which is based on ArcIMS, a solution from ESRI of Redlands, Calif., that delivers dynamic maps and GIS data and services via the Internet). "Our focus is to show new employees how they can use the GIS tools to do their daily jobs more efficiently," said SFPUC GIS coordinator Lily Dryden, who helps conduct the training.
