The Case for Cyber Security in the Water Sector

The path forward is clear, and it includes significant changes to current water sector control systems and management oversight processes. However, the move toward improved security will require new resources and will drive collaboration between system developers, industry experts, and local administrators to design and deploy justified security programs tuned to the water sector. These enterprise-level programs are moving forward through the leadership provided by AWWA and the DHS. In the short term, we can begin making some progress toward improved cyber security today.
