From the treatment plant to the tap, water quality can change significantly. As this month's articles show, it can be compromised by such occurrences as pipe repairs, interactions between disinfectants and pipe walls, and copper leaching from system materials. On the other hand, water quality in the distribution system can also be improved-by using components made from nonleaded-brass alloys and by optimizing operational control.
