摘要

A MVETS added two important issues to its list of Legislative Priorities for 2014, Toxic Wounds & Gulf War Illness. This decision was made, in part, due to the fact that over 140 military sites are listed on the Environmental Protection Agency's superfund list of highly toxic sites and help for our Gulf War veterans and recognition of their specific health concerns was lacking. Additionally, last fall AMVETS participated in an organizational meeting of veteran service organizations interested in focusing on the issue of toxic wounds. AMVETS was elected to be the lead organization at that meeting. Since then, AMVETS has made numerous beneficial connections with various stakeholders like, Gulf War veterans, subject matter experts, as well as members of the Research Advisory Committee on Gulf War Veterans' Illnesses.
