摘要

The clustering problem is an important one to subject matter experts across many disciplines including biology and market research. Practical answers often come in the form of tested algorithms. Even with today's personal computer, one's ability to test an algorithm via simulation might be doable in a reasonable timeline only if a scientific programming language is applied. Furthermore, an object-oriented approach allows the programmer to mix and match components of clustering algorithms with few additional lines of code so that adaptations in algorithms can be coded quickly and put to the test. All of these can help shape a compelling argument in favor of the book under review.
