Houston-Private equity groups are looking for management teams with exposure to the business, technical, financial, and legal aspects of the industry. These investors want to make sure they have the waterfront covered with the principals so that even before they make any acquisitions or have any cash flow, they believe in the management team. By those standards, it seems the partners behind Peak Energy Resources Inc. were preparing for that company long before they realized it. Only since summer 2003, when Bill Pritchard partnered with Jack Vaughn to launch their first exploration and production company, had either had their own oil and gas company. However, long before Peak Energy began exploring for oil and gas, Pritchard began exploring the oil and gas industry, starting as a geologist with Marathon Oil Company in 1980.
