Houston-The Codell formation is a thin sandstone that is laterally continuous across the Wattenberg Field in the Denver-Julesburg Basin in Colorado. Stimulation is required to achieve economic production rates from the low-permeability Codell. Over the past decade, however, operators have achieved very successful results refracturing producing wells in the Wattenberg Field. In fact, more than 4,000 Codell wells have been restimulated with massive hydraulic fracture treatments since 1998.
