U.S. Forest Service Joins Others In Attacking Hydraulic Fracturing

Threats to producing American oil and natural gas are increasing from environmental groups, and federal, state and local government agencies. While we are familiar with proposals from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Department of Interior that would impose restrictions on the oil and gas industry, the U.S. Department of Agriculture presents a new front in this fight with a draft plan that would prohibit horizontal drilling in the George Washington National Forest (GW Forest).
