AIPRO Joins Coalition Opposing ESA Proposal

The Arkansas Independent Producers & Royalty Owners Association has joined with several Arkansas counties and associations in submitting comments to the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service protesting its proposed designation for two mussel species. USFWS says it is seeking to list two freshwater mussels under the Endangered Species Act, classifying the Neosho mucket as endangered and the rabbitsfoot as threatened. The Neosho mucket occurs in Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and Oklahoma, while the rabbitsfoot occurs in those states as well as Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and West Virginia.
