BSEE Announces Rule For Offshore Production And Safety Systems

The U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement has announced changes to its regulations regarding offshore oil and gas production safety systems. The proposed rule, which was published in the Aug. 22 Federal Register, addresses issues such as production safety systems, subsurface safety devices and safety testing, as well as codifies industry best practices, BSEE indicates. "Our guiding focus throughout developing this proposed rule has been and will continue to be worker safety and protecting the marine and coastal ecosystems by helping to reduce the number of production incidents resulting in oil spills, injuries and fatalities," states BSEE Director James Watson.
