摘要

Etomidate is a preferred induction agent for rapid sequence intubation (RSI) in sepsis because of its safe hemodynamic profile. However, the risk of adrenal suppression through inhibition of 11 (3-hydroxylase is well documented, with two prior meta-analyses finding increased mortality in septic patients receiving etomidate. Since then, several more studies with conflicting mortality results have been published, leading the authors of this meta-analysis to reinvestigate the question.
