What makes humans different from, or the same, asnother primates? This book seeks to ‘‘illuminate the mag-nnitude and historical depth of the gap between humansnand other primates, and help us to understand why andnhow our ancestors traversed the particular path thatnbrings us to the present’’ (p. x). The contributors tacklenthis venture with varying degrees of success, but overall,nthis volume is an important contribution, and I recom-nmend it. In fact, I plan on using it as one of the texts innmy advanced human evolution course.
