RESPONSE TO INVITED COMMENTARY: Jassal et al. Respond to “Microalbuminuria and Brain Vascular Disease”

We thank Dr. Knopman (1) for his insightful commentary on albuminuria as a marker of microvascular disease in the brain, which he suggests as a potential mechanism for the association between albuminuria and cognitive decline described in our article in this issue of the Journal (2). We were enlightened by his discussion of possible mechanisms, pleased with his appreciation of the potential significance of our work, and intrigued by his suggestions for further research.
