In The Legalization of Drugs, two philosophers, Douglas Husak and Peter de Marneffe, debate whether the war on drugs should continue. The philosophical approach has not received much attention in the legalization debate, so the authors provide a fresh perspective on the issue. Douglas Husak supports decriminalization (that it should not be a crime to use or possess narcotics) rather than full legalization (that it should not be a crime to manufacture narcotics). Husak's section is well organized, well articulated, easy to follow, and forceful.
