What a pleasure it was to attend the Neighborhood Cleaners Association's (NCA) Texcare convention in Secaucus, N.J., in April. The show floor was attractive, there was a lot of interest from the many drycleaners attending, and the weather was just right. The timing of the show was good for drycleaners coming out of the winter months and preparing for the new season―a season that requires hothead presses and tensioning equipment to finish summer garments professionally. The business climate, too, is reborn in the spring, when successful cleaners explore new ways to maintain cashflow by upgrading their packaging, reducing labor costs and cutting utilities.
