Nearly three out of four drycleaners (72.3%) believe that the U.S. is already in a recession, according to last month's Wire survey, and nearly as many say that the downturn is affecting their business directly. Asked "Do you believe that the country is already in a recession?" 72.3% of respondents answered "Yes," while 27.7% said "No." Asked whether or not their businesses had "felt the impact of any shaki-ness in the economy in its sales volume during the last six months," slightly fewer (70.2%) said "Yes," and 29.8% said "No." Incoming orders are getting smaller as consumers are increasingly forced to think twice about discretionary spending, many respondents reported.
