For the past few years, drycleaning plants have been slowly slipping away. Some closed with great fanfare; others after their operators just locked the doors and walked away.rnRecently, an owner closed one night as usual, only to come back hours later to gut the place of equipment, supplies and customers' clothing. He dumped his well-worn drycleaning machine off at a salvage yard with perc still in it.rnThe last year has been even worse. About the best anyone can say is thatrnsales are the same as last year, since most operators are reporting 10%, 20% and 30% declines from a year ago.
