Lignocellulosic biomass has drawn much attention as a potentialrnrenewable feedstock to produce clean fuels and valuable chemicals.1rnThe products obtainable from lignocellulose include fermentablernsugars, furanic compounds, and some organic acids such as 2,5 franrndicarboxylic acid.2 Hydrolysis approach, compared to otherrntechniques such as gasification and pyrolysis, is considered to havernsome advantages: for example, the relatively lower temperaturernrequirement and the potential to tailor the product distribution.3-5
