The ferroelectric fatigue behavior of high-displacement re- duced and internally biased oxide wafer (RAINBOW) ac- tuators was investigated and compared with that of con- ventional bulk ceramics. Piezoelectric lead zirconate titanates (tPZT-5H AND PZT-5A) as well as electrostrictive lead lanthanum zirconate titanate (PZLT 9/65/35) materi- als were studied. piezoelectric bulk ceramics experienced a 25/100 decrease in remanent polrization over 10~8 switching cycles, whereas RAINBOW polarization degraded by 33/100-53/100.
