Glasses were prepared by systematic additions of P_2O_5. BaO, and PbO to glasses consisting of Al_2O_3-B_2O_3-(BaO)- CaO-Fe_2O_3-K_2O-MgO-Na_2O-(P_2O_5)-SiO_2, and Their chemical durability was examined by the EPA TCLP Test. The addition of about 1 mol/100 P_2O_5 to a glass contain- Ing 5 mol/100 PbO increases the normalized lead leach rate (NLLR) by about 40 relative/100, but increasing P_2O_5 to 2 mol/100 decreases the NLLRtto about the NLLR obtained without P_2O_5.
