For more than 15 years, the Grove Park Inn in Asheville, N.C., has hosted the National Gingerbread Competition, transforming the resort into a spiced fairyland of candied treasures for the holiday season.rnAlthough the 2008 competition was scheduled too late to include in this issue, we offer the a look at the 2007 winners on the following page to inspire your holiday architecture. A list of the winners appears below.rnAccording to Aaron Morgan, Grove Park Inn pastry chef, before the competition existed, the inn used to shut down in December for the winter. The competition began, in part, to spur holiday business in order to keep the inn operating year-round.
