With a background that encompasses many artistic endeavors from sculpting, drawing, glass blowing, painting and photography, Kelly Zubal had a range of skills to call upon when she tumbled headlong in love with cake decorating. "When I first discovered Cakes to Dream On by the incredibly talented Colette Peters, I was immediately drawn to her whimsical style," Kelly said. "The same week I found that book, I started making cakes using her book as a guide and for the next few years I volunteered to make a cake for any special event I was included in!" For three years she made cakes while also working at how to transform a passionate at-home hobby into a viable food business. "I won't sugarcoat it (pun intended) but it was a tough road," she said. "I hope by sharing my experience, I can make the transition easier for others."
