The Wilson–Wilson1 experiment of 1913 is regarded as anclassic confirmation of special relativistic electrodynamicsnand is thought to have been pivotal in the acceptance andndevelopment of the Minkowskian theory of electrodynamicsnof moving media. In the experiment, an uncharged dielectricncylinder undergoes uniform rotation in a uniform static magneticnfield directed along its axis of symmetry. A radiallyninduced electric field is observed whose magnitude dependsnon the rotation speed, dielectric constant, and permeability ofnthe cylinder.
