Russia's most modern furnace line goes into operation

The start-up phase of what is probably the most modern melting and casting furnace is currently underway at the Kamensk Uralski Metallurgical Works (KUMZ) in the Sverdlovsk region of Russia. KUMZ is one of the leading plants for producing aircraft grade aluminium alloys not only in Russia and also globally - it is Boeing certified - and is currently carrying out an extensive programme of modernisation. As part of this programme, a contract was awarded at the end of 2007 to IST Industrieofen + Stranggie? -Technik GmbH, Germany, for the construction of a state-of-the-art furnace.
