Deep drawing of superplastic aluminium alloy matrix composite plates reinforced with SiC particles

Several MMCs (metal matrix composites) were produced by hot pressing using a superplastic aluminium alloy powder Al10Si0.9Mg as matrix metal and SiC particles as reinforcement (fig. 1). The approximate diameter of the aluminium powder particles was 50 mm and the SiC particle diameter was in the range 5 to 20 mm.
