Fatigue data is obtained for pre-strained and artificially aged industrially extruded aluminium alloys AA6063 and AA6082 using fully reversed strain controlled and load controlled fatigue testing. The thermo mechanical treatments result in slightly different static properties of the test specimens. AA6063 has a re-crystallized grain structure while AA6082 has a fibrous non- recrystallized grain structure with a coarse recrystallized surface layer. The geometry of the test specimens is designed so that fatigue cracks initiate at the extruded surface.
