To many experienced travellers outside the USA, the words 'America' and 'excellent airline' are rarely used in the same sentence. So, 'Best airline in America'-an oxymoron like 'giant shrimp' or 'military intelligence'-is likely to evoke the skeptical response, "You mean the best of a bad bunch?" Indeed, US flyers have been 'programmed' to expect little when they buy a ticket nowadays, with most of the major so-called 'full-service' airlines charging to check a bag, drink a cup of coffee, or even have a pillow on board.
