That was when Airbus announced it would end production of its A380 superjumbo in 2021. The European manufacturer made the hard decision to kill the program after Emirates (EK)-the largest customer of the type-cut its order. The Emirati carrier swapped 39 of its remaining A380s on order for a mix of A330neos and A350s. The cancellation was matched by lessor Amedeo, which cut an order for 20, and Qantas (QF), which killed off a long-deferred order for eight aircraft.
