Most of the larger players in the aviation industry pay lip service to the notion that regional airports are a vital cog in the transport network yet the struggle among those airports for a larger market share, better profitability, more direct long haul flights and a sustainable supporting road and rail infrastructure are as hard today as they have ever been.
