Zest air's Air Operator Certificate (AOC) was suspended by the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on August 16, after it had reportedly infringed at least six of its regulations. CAAP said it ordered an investigation into the carrier's operations as a result of an increase in unscheduled maintenance incidents and delays to services. It claimed to have identified infringements including a lack of a qualified accountable manager, someone with the authority to ensure all flight and maintenance activities could be financed and carried out to the highest degree of safety standards. It also cited a failure to check aircraft logs, manifests and weather forecasts prior to flights, refuelling one of its jets while pas- sengers were onboard, and excessive flying hours for pilots.
