BODESEE- Airport Friedrichshafen

As the base for the airships of Ferdinand von Zeppelin, the southern German town of Friedrichshafen on the northern shore of the Bodensee (Lake Constance) is steeped in aviation heritage. Because of this, some writers have dubbed Friedrichshafen as the oldest airport in the world, the first Zeppelin flights taking place here in 1900. Today it is an important centre for contemporary aviation and aerospace, where airships are still manufactured and flown.
