UAC Eyes 2025 Widebody Debut

United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) has revealed its next generation widebody aircraft will enter the market within ten years. Speaking at Airshow China-2014 in mid-November, the Russian manufacturer's president Mikhail Pogosyan told the ITAR-TASS news agency: "We have already defined major requirements for the jet." He added: "In the near term we are going to start the detailed design stage and assess the economic feasibility of the project." The aircraft, being developed as a joint venture between Russia and China, will be able to carry 300 passengers up to 7,500 miles (12,000km). Russia's Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Yuri Slusar added the maiden flight is planned for 2021-2022 while entry into service is expected by 2025.
