Texas ANG receives its first C-130J-30

THE LATEST US Air Force (USAF) unit to begin transition to the Lockheed Martin C-130J-30 Super Hercules is the Texas Air National Guard (ANG) 136th Airlift Wing (AW) at Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base Fort Worth in Texas. The first C-130J-30 for the Wing's 181st Airlift Squadron (AS) 'Nulli Secundus' is 17-5900 (c/n 382-5900), which had previously served with the California ANG 146th AW/115th AS at Channel Islands ANG Station, California. The aircraft was welcomed during an arrival ceremony at Fort Worth on July 24. It has been named 'The Kay Granger' in honour of the US Texas congresswoman, Lead Republican on the House Appropriations Committee, who was instrumental in pushing for the decision to re-equip the 136th AW with the new aircraft to replace its previous C-130H variants.
