Engine market stabilizes after oversupply

The engine market saw an increased number of shop visits in 2013. Overall the market has remained healthy, with a growing demand for spares. Insiders note that a few programmes have bounced back after a slowdown, a result of overproduction from some of the engine manufacturers. The CFM56-7B and -5B are generating more shop visits and an increased overhaul surge. Insiders state growing interest in the CF6-80 and slowly increasing activity for the VS2500-A5. Demand for the IAE engine, however, is still very soft and a number of -A5s have not been placed yet. The CFM56-3C is also suffering mainly because of increased delivery of new aircraft to replace the 737 classics.
