There are many factors to consider when determining the value of an engine aside from the price tag. The host aircraft, for example, would be taken into account, as would the time since the last shop visit, the residual value, performance data (such as exhaust gas temperature margin), technical data (SB and AD status) and marketability. In addition, the traceability of high value parts, such as LLPs, would play an important role, as would the absence of PMA parts (see p.16). Jon Sharp, CEO at Engine Lease Finance Corporation (ELFC), argues that the use of PMA parts could result in restrictions on where the engine can be re-marketed, which has an obvious effect on an engine's worth.
