"We only have two 757s in our portfolio and the 757 market is certainly difficult right now," says Robert Genise, president and chief executive officer of Boullioun. "We don't see it as a market that is going to improve significantly, even when the economy and the industry turn round. But we thought the 757 is going to he a logical replacement for a lot of the DC-8s, 707s and 727-200 freighters that are out there." While the economic basis for the decision is sound, there are still a couple of risks involved. First, Boullioun is the launch customer for Precision Conversions' programme and, second, the lessor is better acquainted with the passenger aircraft leasing business than that for freighters. Genise is confident these will not be issues.
