Flexibility is key among MRO providers in the prevailing environment and most of them are coming up with the goods. There is a general trend towards flexible working practices among many MROs, with some making significant changes. The Jordan Aircraft Maintenance Company (JorAMCo) says there is a move towards more flexible work arrangements but mainly in terms of the number and size of shifts, and in working hours; there has been less change in terms of temporary employment. Not all drivers for change are downturn-driven, however. In France, new legislation restricting weekly working hours has had an impact in some cases. TAT Industries, based in France, says it has implemented a flexible working arrangement which "allows us to change the weekly working time between 31 hours and 44 hours with compensation on an annual basis" which has been put in place since the new law on the 35-hour working week was implemented in France. Snecma Services is also working on more flexible working practices.
