摘要

Cho Yang-ho, who died April 7 aged 70, is closely linked to the story of the airline he led for two decades. Cho held senior roles at Korean Air for 45 of the carrier's 50 years and was its chairman and CEO since 1999. During his tenure at the company, Korean Air went through dramatic growth into a leading player in the global airline industry. Korean Air was established in its current form by Cho's father, the entrepreneur and industrialist Cho Choong Hoon, who founded the massive Hanjin Group from scratch. The senior Cho began a ground transportation business that provided logistic support during the Korean and Vietnam wars, before branching into air and sea transport.
