CHINA TO BUY 70 AIRBUS AIRCRAFT; EXTENDS A320 TIANJIN FAL AGREEMENT

China Aviation Supplies Holding Co. signed a general terms agreement to purchase 70 Airbus aircraft, comprising 43 A320 family aircraft and 27 A330s, as part of a deal to extend the A320 assembly at its Tianjin final assembly line (FAL) for 10 years. The Airbus A320 FAL in Tianjin is a joint venture (JV) with a Chinese consortium, including Tianjin Free Trade Zone and China Aviation Industry Corp. It began line operations in September 2008 and delivered its first aircraft in June 2009, becoming the manufacturer's first FAL outside Europe.
