"Fast helicopter" may no longer be an oxymoron. Sikorsky thinks its X2 coaxial-rotor, compound helicopter could dash up to 334 mph, a speed that would make it the world's fastest helicopter (and 18 mph faster than the V-22 Osprey tiltrotor). The current record, 249 mph, was set in 1986 by a heavily modified Westland Lynx.
