Released in 2000, Red Planet cost $70 million to make and pulled in a measly $17.5 million. On second look, though, it's a better movie than its reputation or box-office receipts would suggest. Well-acted and filled with suspense, Red Planet provides a visually stunning view of space exploration. Narrator Commander Kate Bowman (Carrie-Anne Moss) explains that humans have destroyed Earth, prompting a plan to move all nine billion humans to a Mars we've never troubled to visit.
