A second life can be better than the first, when a restorer gets his hands on his dream airplane. Photographer Lyle Jansma documented pilot Paul LeVeque taking a restored Grumman G-111 Albatross on a well-deserved victory lap (right) around the hills near Reno, Nevada, last summer. The Grumman had just won awards for both Best Large Airplane and People's Choice at the National Aviation Heritage Invitational. The Albatross' owner, Joe Duke, has loved flying boats since he lived on the Florida coast in 1971. When he first saw a Grumman Goose take off from the Jacksonville airport, he says, "I was a student pilot and had been running small boats since I was a kid, so a boat that flew was about the greatest thing I could imagine."
