Air Water and Health Forum - Gloucester NSW

This public forum was organised by the NSW/ ACT branch CASANZ and The Tom Farrell Institute (TFI) at the University of Newcastle in response to the concerns of residents of the Gloucester and Hunter Valley's about the health impacts of coal mining. In the air quality session, the problem areas covered were particulate pollution from the mining process and resulting health effects, transport by road and rail, and coal storage. In addition the newer technique of obtaining gas directly from the coal seam by fraccing was seen to be causing community concern and this was also covered.
