Attainment/Nonattainment Designations Issued for 2008 Lead NAAQS

In a November 22, 2011 final rule (76 FR 72097-72120), EPA announced the designations and boundaries of areas for the 2008 lead national ambient air quality standards (NAAQS). In the final rule, the agency has designated five areas as being nonattainment areas for the 2008 lead NAAQS. Three areas have been designated as unclassifiable due to lack of available monitoring data upon which to make designations. All other areas of the country have been designated as unclassifiable/attainment for the lead NAAQS.
