GACT Standards Proposed for Area Source Wool Fiberglass Manufacturing Facilities

On April 15, 2013 (78 FR 22370-22406), EPA proposed generally available control technology (GACT) standards for gas-fired glass melting furnaces located at area source wool fiberglass manufacturing facilities. Area sources are facilities that emit or have the potential to emit ＜10 tons per year (tpy) of any single hazardous air pollutant (HAP), and ＜25 tpy of any combination of HAPs. Under the proposed rule, gas-fired glass melting furnaces at area source wool fiberglass manufacturing facilities would be subject to emission limits for chromium and particulate matter. The April 15, 2013 proposed rule would also revise the MACT standards for wool fiberglass manufacturing, and the MACT standards for mineral wool production.
