International Energy Outlook From 2013 to 2040

In a July 2013 report, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) provided projections on growth in world energy consumption, along with the associated rise in carbon dioxide (CO_2) emissions, from 2013 to 2040. The EIA projects that by 2040, world energy consumption will grow by 56%. While renewable energy and nuclear power are the fastest-growing energy sources, the EIA projects that fossil fuels will still supply almost 80% of the world's energy use through 2040.
