Single Fighter Base Likely For Norwegian F-35s

Orland in central Norway is likely to be chosen as the main fighter base for the Luftforsvaret's (Royal Norwegian Air Force's) new Lockheed Martin F-35s. All political parties in the government are in favour of Orland as being the most economical and practical solution because of its location, which offers easy access to training areas, and adjacent land for expansion. The selection of a future base is due to be discussed in the national assembly in June. To maintain a fighter presence in the north of Norway it's proposed that a forward operating location be established at Evenes.
