Team Ocho at NAS Fallon

Despite the US Government shutdown it was business as usual at NAS Fallon during October as Carrier Air Wing 8 (CVW-8) 'Team Ocho' undertook a detachment to NAS Fallon, Nevada. The training was in preparation for an upcoming deployment aboard the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN 77) to the US Navy 5th and 6th Fleets' areas of responsibility. CVN 77 is due to deploy in February 2014 and will relieve the USS Harry S. Truman (CVN 75) which is currently forward-deployed. NAS Fallon is the only facility in the US Navy where an entire CVW can conduct comprehensive training while integrating every element of the air wing into realistic battle scenarios prior to a sea-based deployment.
