Third Belgian Baltic Air Policing Deployment

Belgium took over the NATO Baltic Air Policing detachment at Siauliai International Airport in Lithuania for a third time on September 3. Four F-16AM/ BM Fighting Falcons of the Composante Aerienne (Belgian Defence - Air Component) and 50 personnel will be stationed in Lithuania into December. More than 300 flight hours will be accumulated providing air defence and interception of unidentified and unauthorised aircraft entering the airspace of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The F-16s replaced Armee de I'Air (French Air Force) Dassault Mirage F1CRs.
